Israel does not respect anything
They cancelled Christmas in the Holy Land
Seeing the little town of Bethlehem surrounded by walls, hideous new colonies and look-out towers, cut off from its villages, from its biblical vistas and dispossessed from its Christian heritage, makes it impossible not to react.

One cannot forget that it is with the complicity of our States, oddly silent, that Israel attacks the native Christian and Muslim people of Bethlehem who have for centuries formed a unique multicultural society.

Let us here give credit to the venerable Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Michel Sabbah who, in his Christmas message [1], strongly reminded us of his refusal of the idea of a State with a Jewish character, and thereby discriminatory.

"The land belongs to the three religions without any exclusion of one religion or of one of the others. This is why setting up a religious State, with a religious character, Jewish or Muslim, means the exclusion of the other religion, and it means treating unjustly other believers of other religions."

"What is needed is a normal political State which is a State giving the same rights and the same duties to all its citizens, Jewish, Muslim, Christian or Druze."

"The powerful one who holds all the cards, the one who imposes an occupation on the other, has a duty to see what is fair for all and to have the courage to carry it out."

"If Israel decides that it wants peace, there will be peace."

At a time when the colonisation and the persecutions against the Palestinian people continue, will Michel Sabbah’s message at last be heard by Israel ?
